I was an outside observer when you 2 dudes went at it w/ venom I haven't seen in a long time. I do know about your devotion to this band but when you start ragging on a veteran shame on you. Never ever critcize a vetern or try to make a joke out of what ever experience he or she might have had overseas. The fucking very fact that you can go to see a free form concert as many times as you want is due to the protection these and former vets have provided. To bring up a possible medical issue is as bad as the scandle in England happening right now. From what I saw and read this was not joke and may your hooks be empty from now on.

LW: sorry, must have missed it--who's the "vet"?

Defn don't want to drag anything on that was nasty, but I would point out that someone's status vis-a-vis any number of life choices shouldn't, in and of itself, categorically remove them from discussion, pro or con. EG, the fact that I am an Irishman, a few generations removed, doesn't mean you have to hold back on the potato head jokes, etc., though it might explain any number of stoopid things I say and do hereabouts.

Sorry my comp skills are preventing me from bring up the vets name but this kind of reminded me of that nutfactory Islam Sucks.....LW

Well, not really. It's also about your wallet, which has to do with the economy, which has a lot to do with geopolitical accident (the size of the US, its resources, its relative isolation/protection by oceans), various cultural/historical accidents (origins in a constitutional monarchy vs absolute monarchy, Britain's merchant economy, the Enlightenment, etc etc etc) ... and then there's the little fact that such concerts exist, which has to do with all kinds of other cultural/historical streams coming together ...

I mean, not to discount vets or anything. That's obviously part of the equation, and particularly important if you include vets from, say, the Revolution and CW. Though only on the North. (Sorry, some of my own ancestors. I honor your skill at long marches and all :-) )

But really ... we shouldn't criticize the opinions of, say, Custer because we should thank him instead for our ability to go to "free form concerts"? Interesting.

You make some good points, but we are still just scratching the surface! Geopolitical accidents such as Britain's merchant economy are dependent on factors such as the prior existence of the planet Earth, which is itself a local accident of conditions that prevailed a few billion years after the spontaneous symmetry breaking shortly after the inflationary cosmological epoch ended. The physical constants that allow for star formation may be simply local values which aren't true of the hyperverse outside our cosmic horizon, so the fact that our past light-cone includes the sonic information created by the Grateful Dead is really a consequence of the remarkably low-entropy conditions that prevailed in the early universe, and allow us to exist in semi-stable equilibrium on the entropy slope as gravitationally structured systems like stars radiate energy as part of the steady progress towards the thermodynamic entropy maximum.

"Dark star crashes, pouring it's light into black-hole singularities that exist in the future of its worldline, until Hawking radiation pops the black hole..."

Incredible. So what that all means is ... the Grateful Dead is, are and were eternal, creating the music of the spheres ... and, in fact, Jerry is the cosmic dancer Nataraj who creates, maintains and destroys the universe, and who is in turn protected by a cosmic vet! Which is very important, since we're all riding on the back of four elephants on the back of a giant turtle, and if it gets sick, well, gotta call that vet.

Indeed. We are deep in Kali Yuga! As I understand it, due to the deeply unspiritual nature of our age, a dispensation has been granted in the divine order, that we may bring ourselves into harmony with the absolute by the practice of music, when we sing together with pure hearts. I think the Grateful Dead is a good form of Kirtan.

I absolutely believe that the ancient concept of the "music of the spheres" is a real thing, and that human music is a mirrored reflection of the mathematical and spiritual order in the cosmos. In fact I have a strange and amateurish website called sphericalharmony.com which tries to describe some connections between the laws of physics and the structure of music theory.

This message board is one of the few places I feel I can come out of the closet as a Grateful Dead listening, music theory studying, Bhagavad-Gita reading, quantum physics loving eccentric.

Wake up to find out that you are the Eyes of the Potato
The tater has a peeler, some hash browns and salt of its own
Wake now discover that you are the starch that the breakfast brings
The tater has its seasonings, its deep fryer and french fries of its own

Sometimes the spuds that we eat are just spuds of our own

All I can think of is the old thread where we discussed "misheard lyrics" and someone said they always thought it was "wake up to find out you're disquised as a squirrel" It was probably a New World squirrel that wispered to the Incas to give some Brit an eye for an eye to return home with...

Good job, BK; you're fitting right in hereabouts...fortunately, though the Brits forced us to farm spuds, then probably developed the blight just to smite us ( ;) ), eventually killing off one quarter of "us" by 1848 ( :( ), we remain the drunken, "always willing to take a joke" folk that write happy war songs and sad love sagas...

Cromwell, Henry VIII, his daughters, Cromwell, high rents, no access to education, Cromwell, the bottom caste and all from an aggressor/oppressor, not from the people, Cromwell. We are going on 500 years in 2036. I was so touched recently when HRM 'almost' apologized for it all in Dublin.

I'm swooning now just thinking of it.....

You know Ian (Mcglone, he of the beautiful wife and daughter; nicest guy on the Forum, I tell you) grew up in the Wicklow S of Dublin town, fishing for trout in the beautiful mountains thereabouts...? My son trekked thru same area and we met him there after his two weeks in the "wilderness" (actually, some almost is)--I even wrote in to the Forum from "there" 4 yrs ago.

I know of your praises of Mr. Mcglone (plus he is Irish), but his brevity since I've joined the forum is unequaled.
His photos and daughter are beautiful, but that is all. (By the way, small g in Mcglone?)
I'm getting hungry just thinking of eating some trout from the 'wilderness'. Smoked for some odd reason. You get around WT, I'll say that. Creaky knees and whatever aside.
My Irish family, who we reconnected with twenty odd years ago, hails from County Caven, but are now spread out all throughout the island and beyond. We even have an published author in the family tree. M.F. Kenny, with the oddly titled, 'Marathon Marriage'. Think Angela's Ashes. For all the Irishman that have graced the earth, you and I are lucky bastards to be born in this time and place. I like things as having a pair of shoes.

Do you have your coffee? Saint of Circumstance, as heard by Fenario's nephew:

Absolutely classic. Now you will hear squirrels AND hippos.

Only in the sense that William Tell, but few others, can comment on it; re, prior disapproval of the PM using his "position" (har) vis-a-vis "chatting up the ladies" and so on, which eventually quieted down, and he is allowed to do it periodically without anyone taking offense, or taking note for that matter. Not sure why it seems more objective in the third person, but there you have it.

I guess since you are unable to contribute anything worthwhile here you thought you'd start some shit? Maybe you have an axe to grind because I don't subscribe to your liberal eco-bullshit?

Why comment on something that you admittedly know absolutely nothing about? What qualifies you to interpret the meaning of my reply to another individual on this message board? And what concern is it of your's anyway?

Not once have I ever disrespected veterans on this forum!

Fuck you for implying that my suggestion to Kochman to seek out the help he deperately needs in dealing with his mental illness was a slight against veterans!

And fuck you for starting this shit!

What I find even more laughable than your ignorance is the fact that the folks who you perceive "to grasp what [youre] getting at" are Kochman posting under his different usernames. Though your so obviously clueless it's not surprising.

And who the fuck are you to call be out for being unpatriotic you stupid motherfucker?
